I'm losing my mind trying to pick a flash before my London shoot next Saturday. Everyone says get the Speedlite 430EX III but it looks weak, and the Godox V1 has weird sync issues with the 90D apparently. I only have £250 left and need something that actually works every time. What are you guys using?
Over the years, ive found Godox V860III-C TTL Speedlight works best.
Regarding what #1 said about "Over the years, ive found Godox V860III-C TTL Speedlight...", i totally agree! It is a beast! Honestly, the best part is that battery life. Not having to swap AA batteries every hour is amazing when you are shooting on the move. Its such a solid way to save money without losing power... you are gonna have a blast in London!
@Reply #2 - good point! Dealing with AA batteries is a massive headache during a fast-paced shoot. I saw this earlier and i think i recall some discussion on the FlashHavoc blog regarding those 90D sync issues. Not 100% sure but i believe it might be a specific firmware conflict between the trigger and the camera body. Over the years i have found that checking the technical forums on DPReview is a great way to find workarounds for these glitches. IIRC, some people had to toggle a specific menu setting to get everything working. Since you are trying to stay under budget, maybe look at some used gear websites or rental house clearances? They usually sell gear that has been proven to work in professional environments... could be a smart way to spend that 250 quid before your London shoot.
