Going to Yellowstone next month for some wildlife shots and my 90D is just killing my wrist when I'm holding it vertical for hours. My logic was to grab a battery grip but I'm torn on the model. I looked up the official Canon BG-E14 but it's super pricey compared to the Neewer ones.
I read that the third-party ones sometimes lose connection with the shutter button which would be a nightmare if I'm tracking a hawk or something. But then some forums say the Canon one is the only one that's actually weather sealed. I just spent my whole budget on a new 100-400mm lens so I'm trying to be cheap... is the official grip really worth the extra $100 for the peace of mind in the field?
Tbh, grab the Canon BG-E14 Battery Grip for EOS 90D. The weather sealing is key for Yellowstone.
Regarding what #2 said about the Vello, basically it comes down to weather sealing versus saving cash for more gear! I love my Neewer Vertical Battery Grip for Canon 90D because it makes the camera feel amazing for vertical shots.
Re: "Tbh, grab the Canon BG-E14 Battery Grip for..." - the Vello BG-C9 Battery Grip for Canon 90D works well. Check MPB.
