So I finally upgraded to the 90D from my old Rebel because I really want to start doing some 4K b-roll for a friend's wedding I'm shooting in Miami next month. I've been looking at cards and honestly my head is spinning a bit with all these ratings like V30, V60, and UHS-II. I read on a few blogs that the SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB is the go-to, but then I saw some forum posts saying that the 90D can be picky with certain brands when recording 4K at higher bitrates and might just cut out mid-clip.

I'm really worried about that happening during the ceremony or something important. My budget is around 150 bucks for a couple of cards but I dont want to overspend on V90 cards if the camera cant even utilize those speeds properly... some people say V60 is the sweet spot but others swear by the faster ones for reliability. Its gonna be super hot in Florida too so I'm worried about the card or the camera overheating if the write speed isnt efficient enough. Does anyone here actually use the 90D for long 4K takes? What cards are you guys using that wont break the bank but also wont fail on me when things get hot?

Ive been using Lexar Professional 1667x 128GB SDXC UHS-II V60 for ages. It handles the 90D 4K bitrates like a champ without melting, and it wont kill your wallet.

TL;DR: Get the Kingston Canvas React Plus 128GB UHS-II V90. I'm super satisfied because it handles 4K without breaking a sweat and stays cool even when I'm filming for hours.

^ This. Also, maybe check out ProGrade Digital SDXC UHS-II V60 Gold. Its a solid budget pick that handles the 90D heat well and wont cut out during those long takes.

Man, I'm right there with you. I've been doing event work for a long time and the fear of a card failing mid-vow is what keeps me up at night. I'm actually looking for new cards for my 90D right now for a gig in Savannah, and the humidity there is just as bad as Miami. I've been staring at the Sony SF-M Series Tough UHS-II V60 128GB for days because they're supposed to be rugged, but I'm hesitant to drop the cash if they aren't 100% reliable in the heat. I've also been looking into the Angelbird AV PRO SD MK2 V60 128GB since they're priced pretty well for the specs, but honestly, I'm just as stuck as you are. I've had the standard SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB UHS-I V30 cards lag on me before when the camera gets warm, so I definitely wouldnt trust those for a whole wedding day in Florida. Its such a tough spot when you're trying to be budget-conscious but literally cant afford a total failure... still searching for that perfect safe budget pick myself.
