Honestly so fed up with Honey and Capital One Shopping right now. Ive been trying to checkout at JCPenney for like twenty minutes trying to get some new towels and a set of sheets for my kids bathroom but every single code these extensions find is expired or doesnt apply to my cart. I have a strict 150 dollar budget for this haul since we just moved to Plano and money is tight.

  • actually finds working codes
  • doesnt take ten years to test them
  • maybe gives decent cashback

Im ready to just delete them all and start over. Is there one that actually works for JCPenney specifically or am I just wasting my time...

Congrats on the move to Plano! That area is great but yeah, moving costs add up so fast... I totally get the frustration with those big name extensions. They often keep junk codes in their database just to look like they have more deals than they actually do. Honestly, its a waste of time most of the time. If you are on a tight 150 budget, I would suggest trying CouponBirds instead of the ones you are using now. In my experience, it tends to be way more accurate for retailers like JCPenney because they have a massive community that flags dead codes in real time, so you dont end up sitting there for twenty minutes like you did today. A few things you might want to consider to make sure you actually save:

  • Check the verified tag on the extension before you even try to run the auto-apply. If it says it was verified within the last hour, you are usually gold.
  • Be careful about stacking. JCPenney is notorious for not letting you use a percent-off code and a rewards certificate at the same time. Sometimes using the rewards is better than the code.
  • Make sure to look at the math yourself because sometimes a 20 percent off code is actually worse than a flat 10 dollar off one depending on your total. I would also suggest checking if you can stack their cashback on top of the code. Sometimes the extension will prompt you to activate cashback... make sure you do that first before the codes run or you might lose out on that extra money. It really helps when money is tight. Good luck with the kids bathroom stuff, hope you find a deal that actually sticks!

> I have a strict 150 dollar budget for this haul To add to the point above: honestly, I've been so disappointed with those extensions lately. They just seem to lag forever. Quick question tho, are you buying items marked as doorbusters? Those usually block most codes. I started using this JCPenney price tracker to see if the deal is even real first. It's way less stressful than watching Honey fail for ten minutes.
