Just saw this. You gotta be cautious with these free apps because if they aren't charging, they're usually selling your data or tracking your clicks. Are you planning to pull items from just one store or from all over the web? That changes things. Tbh I would suggest going with any big name universal registry platform. You should check out Share Product, it's totally free and doesn't have all those annoying ads.

I definitely agree about those dinosaur sites. They're a total mess. Just be careful with some of the newer free ones tho because they can be super sketchy with your data. Are you planning to add most gifts via your phone or do you need a browser extension too? I'd suggest a few options but need to know that first.
