honestly i am so fed up with Amazon lists. I spent like three hours setting everything up for my 30th birthday next month and half the items arent even showing up for my family anymore plus it keeps trying to force everyone to sign up for Prime just to see the damn link. Its so annoying because i just want a simple way to link stuff from different sites without it being a whole ordeal.

I need something free because im already broke from planning the party lol. Does anyone know any good apps that actually work and let you share a link easily without making people create accounts? I just want something that isnt a total headache...

Regarding what #1 said about "Unfortunately Amazon was a letdown for my party..."

  • I honestly had the exact same headache last year. It is so frustrating when you just want a simple link and the site makes it a whole thing. I ended up trying a few different options because I was broke too lol. I am pretty satisfied with what I use now, but definitely watch out for a few things that ruined it for me at first.
  • Stay away from sites that force guests to make an account just to see your stuff.
  • Avoid any platform that limits you to only certain stores.
  • Be cautious with chrome extensions that ask for weird permissions. I eventually landed on Wishlist.com and it has been great. No complaints from my family at all which is a miracle. If you need help setting it up just lmk!

Regarding what #2 said about "Regarding what #1 said about "Unfortunately Amazon was..." - " I totally get the struggle. I remember trying to organize a huge housewarming list a few years back and it was a literal disaster. I initially thought some of the bigger name apps would be the savior since everyone talks about them, but honestly, most were not as good as expected for my non-techy family members who just wanted a link. They kept getting stuck on login screens or getting bombarded with deals they didnt ask for. It is weird how these companies make it so hard to just... give people money. Unfortunately, a lot of the free options out there end up being super clunky or they stop working the second you add more than ten items. I eventually landed on using GiftHero because its actually free and doesnt force your guests to make accounts just to see what you want. I had a moment to think about this more while looking at my old lists, and one big tip is to make sure the app has a browser extension. It saves so much time compared to copy-pasting links manually, especially when youre already stressed about party planning. Just be careful with apps that promise universal lists but then break the links half the time. It is so disappointing when you think youre organized but then half your guests cant even see the images of what you picked. Stick to something simple that lets you just text a URL over without any drama.

Re: "Regarding what #2 said about "Regarding what #1..." - " I definitely agree that the account barrier is a major point of failure. My own experience with digital organization has been much smoother since I shifted my focus toward link persistence. Im quite satisfied with how my current setup handles redirects without breaking the original URL structure. One small point to add is that you should check how the app handles mobile versus desktop views. I found that some lists look great on a PC but become a mess on a phone. Choosing something that maintains a consistent layout across devices has made the process much more reliable for my relatives who only use their tablets. No complaints here once I made that a priority.
