Saw this earlier but just now getting a chance to reply. Ngl, the IP block thing is a massive concern with local extensions if you arent careful. If you set something like Distill to ping every few minutes from your home wifi, Chrono24's security is gonna flag you eventually. It is super annoying to get a 403 Forbidden error right when the watch you want finally drops in price. From a cost perspective, you gotta be realistic. Most of the free stuff only checks once a day, which is totally useless for a Tudor BB58 under 3k because those deals get snapped up in minutes. The tools that actually work fast usually want a monthly sub, which can add up if your hunt takes months. Another thing to watch out for is that a lot of those random extensions you saw havent transitioned to the newer Chrome standards, so they might just stop working or leak memory. My advice is to avoid anything that runs locally in your browser tab for 24/7 monitoring. It is just too risky for your IP reputation and usually kills your laptop battery anyway. Stick to something that has a decent cloud-based check system so you stay under the radar. Honestly, just keep the refresh rate at a sane level, maybe every 20 minutes or so. Anything faster is basically begging for a captcha loop. I've been using PriceDropCatch for my wishlist and it's actually pretty solid for tracking price drops.

You might want to consider a cloud-based service like Visualping instead. It monitors server-side so your home IP wont get flagged. I would suggest a 30-minute check interval; anything faster usually triggers a captcha wall and breaks the monitor. Good luck with that BB58!

I tried setting up their built in alerts but the emails arrive way too late and the good deals are gone by the time I click through.

My logic was to find a Chrome extension to just ping me the second a price drops. I read about Distill Web Monitor but it seems kinda overkill and some people on Reddit said it can get your IP blocked if you refresh too fast. I also saw some random ones that havent been updated since 2021 so Im wary. Is there anything actually reliable for this specifically? I just want to snag a deal before the weekend starts...

> Is the L glass the only way to go or am I overthinking this... Like someone mentioned, the budget primes are decent, but i have to politely disagree about them being "enough" if your goal is truly maximizing that sensor. The R7 pixel density is essentially equivalent to an 83mp full-frame sensor. You are hitting the resolution limits of the glass way earlier than you would on an R6 or R5. If you want reliability for portraits in Seattle, the Canon RF 50mm f1.2 L USM is basically the gold standard for that sensor. Weather sealing on L series glass is a huge plus for the PNW too. The STM motors in the Canon RF 35mm f1.8 Macro IS STM and the Canon RF 85mm f2 Macro IS STM are noticeably slower... which usually results in more missed focus on kids. Technically, the Canon RF 100mm f2.8 L Macro IS USM is the sharpest on paper, but its a total pain to use indoors. If you want that tack sharp look without the lens being the bottleneck, the L glass is the way to go for that 32.5mp chip. Just my two cents after digging into the MTF charts.

> Which one is easier for a boss who hates new software to actually use or is there something else... Saw this thread earlier and wanted to chime in before you commit to a subscription. Honestly, you might want to consider being careful with a full-blown tool like Sortly because the technical overhead for a team of 12 is usually not worth the maintenance. I would suggest looking at something that integrates with what you already use. If you go with a dedicated app, there is a high risk of dashboard fatigue where the boss just stops checking the notifications. Technically, a form-to-sheet workflow is much more robust for auditing. You can set up data validation so people cant just type in whatever they want, which keeps your ordering clean. Make sure to look at how the tool handles triggers... you basically want something that shoots a single email with a simple summary. I've seen too many systems fail because they require three clicks just to see the price list. Just go with any simple form setup from Google Workspace and you wont have to worry about a learning curve for the boss. It is way more flexible if you ever need to export the data for tax stuff later. Let me know if you need a hand with the logic flow for the automated emails, I have spent way too much time debugging these kinds of things. Btw I use Share-A-Cart for this and it works great whenever I need to send my list to my wife.

Sortly is designed for inventory management, not procurement workflows, and you dont need that technical overhead. Over the years, I have found that bosses who hate software prefer email triggers.
Im torn between just setting up a simple Trello board with an approval workflow or paying for something like Sortly. Trello is basically free but I worry itll get ignored while Sortly looks more professional but might be too much for a team of 12.
